Oxfam is a charity working to reduce poverty worldwide and help people live a happy prosperous life. Their work has been going on for the 70 years and has relied entirely on public funding. You can find out more about Oxfam on their website.
In 2006, Oxfam launched the Oxjam music gigs around the United Kingdom. They’re a one day musical festival which involve local bands and artists playing exclusive songs raising money for Oxfam and the great work they do. Members of the local community help at these events.
Last year we launched the first ever Oxjam festival in Halifax, West Yorkshire. It was a fantastic day, raising nearly £2000 in the process, with many local bands taking part.
Because of the success of last year, and the sheer number of bands and venues that contacted us to try and help out in some way we have expanded into Oxjam Calderdale to try and get more areas involved in our activities. The main event will take place in Hebden Bridge on the weekend of 27th – 28th 29th October with a diverse range of musical artists.
Other areas in Calderdale will be having their own events – Sowerby Bridge, Halifax and Todmorden all have events planned this year.
You can buy a tickets by clicking here. Tickets start from as little as £6 and other options such as a weekend or VIP are available if you want to go to more than one event. Money raised goes directly to Oxfam. You can also donate to Oxfam through our everyday hero page by clicking here.
